When I started writing this article, I almost quoted the Dionne Warwick song “What the World Needs Now, is Love Sweet Love”, because the world could certainly benefit by more LOVE. But I also believe that what the world needs now is YOU!

Isn’t it amazing how so much we took for granted, are now seen as privileges? Things like going to school or church, eating out at a restaurant, attending weddings, or sporting events, flying, celebrating graduations, birthdays, anniversaries, or even just meeting up with friends. I feel like I am going thru withdrawal, not being able to hug my family or friends.

As if the pandemic was not enough, our country is now facing a lack of equality issues, which should not exist. Everyone deserves to have the same rights, protections, opportunities, and freedoms. Powerful but peaceful voices need to be heard, to protect those rights, and change hopefully will occur.

Which brings me to why I believe YOU are more vital than at any other time in history. You give people hope, you help them advance their career, make more money, and continue to live the American Dream. You can identify and present a candidate’s transferrable skills and present opportunities that are not advertised. You also help companies attain their goals by providing them with the BEST talent!

You have been the voice of calm to your candidates and clients these past few months, and the longer this unrest continues, the more you are needed! Wake up every day and commit to making a difference in the lives of all the people you represent.

Companies are hiring, the contract and temporary segments of our profession are doing well, and you play a vital role, as we all walk through this journey of our new normal. We must continue to see things through the eyes of the people we serve, determine what is most important to them, and then make it happen!

It is going to be interesting to see how many jobs will remain remote, how the traditional hiring process will be impacted by virtual interviewing, and how the workforce will change. You are one of those critically important people, who can help drive change. I admire each one of you for the work you do and the impact you have on others. Stay safe and keep up the good work – the world desperately needs you right now!
